Luís Abegão Pinto is the Head of the Glaucoma Clinic of Hospital Santa Maria and Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon University, Portugal. His main areas of interest are the non-IOP related risk factors in glaucoma, particularly the ones related to ocular blood flow (the area of his PhD) and glaucoma surgery, specifically wound healing modulation.
He has undertaken the European Glaucoma Society (EGS)-sponsored fellowship programme in the UZ Leuven, Belgium in 2013, under the supervision of Ingeborg Stalmans.
He has authored or co-authored 39 indexed, peer-reviewed papers in Glaucoma. He is actively engaged in a number of scientific ophthalmological societies, including the EGS and EVER, having directed or co-directed a number of courses in these societies’ annual meetings. He is the Editor for Glaucoma section of the Portuguese Ophthalmological Journal as well as ad hoc Associate Editor for Acta Ophthalmologica.
